Dominic Ibamondor Bakantiche, Programs Manager

Dominic holds MPhil and BSc Chemical Engineering degrees from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and is currently volunteering for the Saboba Youth Centre (SYC) as the Programs Manager. In this role, he leads the management to develop and implement annual programme of activities; coordinates the activities of the various departments; manages and being responsible for the bank accounts of the youth centre; organises and chairs all meetings of members of the youth centre; maintains a cordial working relationship between the board, management and all members; represents the centre at programmes and meetings to which it is invited.

He has significant work experience in the gold mining industry obtained from industry giants Goldfields Ghana Limited and Newmont Ghana Gold Limited (now known as Newmont Goldcorp Ghana Limited).

He aspires to be an outstanding Engineer and leader, and nurtures this goal with self-motivation, volunteerism, hard-work and productivity. He is a good communicator, an effective team player and has been a facilitator at several occasions including facilitating the training of Senators of GRASAG-KNUST for the 2018/2019 academic year, the training of youth parliamentarians of the Saboba Youth Parliament and the training of Saboba Children Parliamentarians.

He is an industrious member of the Executive Committee of the Ashanti Regional branch of Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) and was an integral member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), for the 2019 Badminton National Veterans Championship. He was the producer and co-host of the GRASAG-Hour show of KNUST in the 2017/2018 academic year.

He is a proud KAAD scholar and has been a member of its prestigious association of both present and alumni scholars; KAAD Scholars of West Africa (KASWA). On the entrepreneurship front, he is a winner of the GRASAG/NEIP entrepreneurship competition.

He is an ardent reader, debater and enjoys playing badminton. He is a gold medallist in the men’s double category and a silver medallist in the men’s single when he participated in the 2019 Badminton National Veterans Championship. He represented KNUST in the GUSA games in 2018 and won a bronze medal in the category of men’s double.
